Unlike, Oral Conscious Sedation, The Eastern Dentist Insurance Company (EDIC) endorses the utilization of a Dentist Anesthesiologist. If EDIC is your malpractice carrier, they will only offer coverage for you to administer enteral (oral) sedation medication within the ADA approved guidelines and within the FDA therapeutic approved dosages for anxiolysis only (the diminution or elimination of anxiety). Your EDIC coverage & liability is not affected when you are treating a patient while sedation and/or general anesthesia is being administered by a Dentist Anesthesiologist.
