Is the anesthesiologist in the presence of the patient
for the entire procedure?
Yes, Dr. McCarty is personally responsible for your comfort
and well-being before, during and after your dental
procedure. During the treatment, he will direct your
anesthesia and manage vital functions, including heart rate,
blood pressure, heart rhythm, body temperature and
breathing. By utilizing an IV, Dr. McCarty will be able to
regulate the level of anesthesia so that you will be completely
comfortable until your procedure is completed by your
dentist.
By utilizing a "two practitioner model of care", your dentist is
allowed to concentrate on the procedure at hand while a
medically trained dentist anesthesiologist is vigilantly
monitoring & the adjusting the anesthesia for you, throughout
the procedure. There is no doubt this can be considered the
safest method of practice since the responsibilities are
divided amongst two trained doctors.
